From the Hall

The 4th of July was a great day. So many people came out and gave of themselves to make the day wonderful for everyone who attended. Yards were cleaned up and then came the storm which was even more amazing for me. Trees were downed, help was needed, and to my astonishment no one refused the call for help when asked. Volunteers came with pickups, trailers and chainsaws and in a few hours the town was cleaned up. The people you would least expect worked by our sides until the work was finished. Our community has a backbone of silent steel that you hardly ever see. They aren't at City Council meetings, they don't hold positions of community leadership or social esteem. They are hard working, wonderful people. Part of this steel is our teenaged young men. They left me speechless. It was truly a fitting end to what this day should mean to each and every one of us.

From the bottom of my heart, I will remind all of you:

This is our community. It will be what we make it.
