Garden County SchoolsThe combined Boards of Lewellen Junior High, Lisco Elementary, Oshkosh Elementary and Well Valley voted to merge in to a "Super" Class I district called Garden County Elementary District. Therefore, Garden County still has Class I and Class VI school districts. The petition has been sent to the State for its approval. If approved, Garden County will have the largest Class I district in the State. The group voted to use the voting precincts as a means to split up the district. The following people were elected from the current Board members who reside in the three districts; District I, Tiffany Zorn and Cindy Bloomfield: District II, John Gortemaker and Beverly Krajewski: District III, Rex Miller and Robert Radke. Ms. Krajewski and Mr. Gortemaker were in the position of being the only two from District II. New Board members then volunteered to be on committees that will prepare for the transition. Members of the Negotiation Committee are Tiffany Zorn and Beverly Krajewski: Policy Committee, Rex Miller and Cindy Bloomfield: Safety Committee, John Gortemaker and Robert Radke. Other members of these committees will come from the staff at the current schools. A lot of hard work remains as these people review and combine school and safety policies
and procedures and finish negotiations regarding the remaining districts. The current boards
will meet at their regular times and places until the new Board is sworn in August 1st, 2005.
