Lewellen Public Library
The Lewellen Public Library began in the 1940's in the Richard and Mabel Dallam home.
Books were donated by the members of the American Legion Auxiliary and volunteers served as
librarians. The Dallam's allowed the Auxiliary use of a back room which was entered by a west door for the library.
Later the library was moved to a building on the west side of Main Street. The first full time librarian was Nona Brown.
Around 1950, the library was moved into the front part of the City Hall on th eeast side of Main Street.
In 2002, the Lewellen Public Library recieved funds from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation to
put a computer in the library and connect to the internet.
