Communicating with Inmates

Who should I contact if an emergency has occurred and I need to forward the information to an inmate?

Ask for the Shift Supervisor, explain your situation, and he/she will assist you.

What are the visiting hours for the jail?

Visiting hours are on every Tuesday and Thursday from 1:00 to 4:00. (These hours are subject to change without notice depending on staffing at the jail)

Can I bring items to someone who is in jail?

Yes, but only certain items. The following is the only items that will be accepted by the jail staff.

Plain white underwear and socks (plain sports bras may also be left for female inmates, but they cannot have any metal or plastic on them)
Money can be left for the inmates, but only cash will be accepted.

May I send mail to an inmate?

Inmates may generally correspond through the mail with whom they choose, as long as the correspondence does not jeopardize the public or facility safety or security. Incoming mail will not be delivered to inmates if it contains contraband items, stickers, stamps, or stains. Books and magazines must be sent directly from a publisher. Inmates may receive envelopes and stamps from the staff, so these items will not be given to inmates if received in the mail.

Mail may include personal photographs with the exception of:
No backing on photos.
No Polaroid photos.
No sexually explicit photos.
No "Gang" related photos
No photos depicting criminal activity.

How can I contact an inmate by phone?

Telephone calls cannot be placed to inmates. Inmates have daily access to phones that allow them to place collect local and long distance calls.

Will the Sheriff's Office take a personal check?

No. The Sheriff's Office can only accept cash, money orders, or cashiers check.

When can an inmate be bonded out of jail?

An inmate can bond out of jail between the hours of 8:00 am and 10:00 pm only.
Cash, money orders or cashier checks are the only forms of money accepted.
