"The Lighter Side of Life on the Oregon Trail"

Cave site, springs, hiking path.
Rock school house in park area south of museum.
Sod house and Windlass Hill (original Oregon Trail wagon ruts) about 2 1/2 miles south of park entance on Hwy 26.

Chuck Wagon Supper
- roast beef, fry bread made over an open campfire and baked beans in a cast iron kettle. Enjoy wood smoke drifting around the camp fire reminiscent of an evening on the trail.
(Several picnic tables are set out for the Chuck Wagon Supper)

6:30 pm
"The Lighter Side of Life on the Oregon Trail"
Outdoor performance/musical portraying the misadventures of Hans Hoth on the Oregon Trail. Thirty-plus member cast tell history through pioneer diaries and period music. Lively music with trail band. Bring your own lawn chair or blanket.

Souvenir Book featuring diary quotes, photos and historical interest.

Price:

Park Entry Sticker
   $20 annual or
   $4.00 daily per vehicle.

Chuck Wagon Supper
   Adults - $9.00
   Children - $6.00

Performance: No Charge

Raffles:

Underground Railroad Quilt
$5.00 each (5 for $20)
Maximum of 200 tickets each.

Location:

Ash Hollow State Historical Park is located 3 miles SE of Lewellen on Highway 26 and 28 miles NW of Ogallala off Interstate 80. Take the entrance to the park and turn left on the first gravel road for the performance and chuck wagon supper. West of Lake McConaughy.


Tour:

Historic sites at Ash Hollow, a stopping off place on the Oregon-California Trail.

Pageant History:

Volunteers of America has been staging the Ash Hollow Pageant since 1993.

Proceeds from sales and the Chuck Wagon Supper benefit Volunteers of America Western Nebraska programs.
