Ash Hollow Pageant Glimpses of the Past-Life on the Trail
Ash Hollow State Historical Park, Lewellen, NE

10:00-6:00 Visitors Center Pageant Days Hours Cave site, springs, hiking path.
Rock school house in park area south of museum.
Sod house and Wildlass Hill (original Oregon Trail wagon ruts) about 2 1/2 miles south of park entance on Hwy 26.
2:00-5:00 Spinning Wheel Spinning wheel, forge, sawmill and other live demonstrations of historical skills.
5:00-6:30 Chuck Wagon supper Roast beef, fry bread made over the campfire, and baked beans prepared in a cast iron skillet.
Enjoy wood smoke drifting around the camp fire reminiscent of a night on the trail.
6:30 p.m. "Glimpses of the Past - Life on the Trail" Relive the stories of men, women and children on the trail
to Oregon, California and Salt Lake. Humor and tragedy are told through diary readings,
drama and music, recreating life on the Oregon & California trail. Outdoor theatre bring your own folding chairs and blankets.
Seating: Bring lawn chairs or blankets for outdoor seating.
Location:Ash Hollow State Park is located 28 miles northwest of Ogallala, 3 miles SE of Lewellen, on Highway 26. Take entrance to park and turn left on first gravel road.
Price:
Park Entry - State of Nebraska Park Entry Sticker, $20.00 annual, or $4.00 daily pass per vehicle.

$9.00 adults
$6.00 children 4-11
The Music:
Enjoy guitar and mandolin country band and 30 member choir performing folk songs hymns and popular music from pioneer days.
The Performers:
Actors / singers and band members are an all-volunteer troupe from Nebraska and Colorado.
Historical Exhibits:
Experience technology from the 1850's. Exhibits include spinning wheel, rope making, portable sawmill, and more. Hours from 2 to 5 both days.
Tour:
Historic sites at Ash Hollow, a stopping off place on the Oregon-California Trail.
Pageant History:
Volunteers of America has been staging the Ash Hollow Pageant since 1993.
Proceeds from sales and the Chuck Wagon Supper benefit Volunteers of America Western Nebraska programs.
