Garden County Chamber of Commerce 2007 Meeting Minutes
Garden County Chamber of Commerce
Regular Meeting Minutes
June 21st, 2007
Temp Secretary Kathleen Loyd
President Nathan Loyd called the meeting to order at 6:45. The meeting was held at the Eagles. Minutes from the last meeting were corrected and approved. The Treasurer's report was read. Visitors were Ted Miller and Steve Rogers who is assigned to work at the G.C. hospital.
Old business concerning the fireworks raffle ticket sales was discussed. Paula Sissel volunteered to see if the student council could find volunteers to sell tickets along the parade route and in the park. She will contact Nathan when she finds volunteers.
New business: Bruce Burdick proposed that the Chamber purchase a brochure rack to put at the Ash Hollow visitor center. A business must be a chamber member to put brochures in the rack. Don Bentley motioned to purchase the rack. A second to the motion was made by Bonnie. Motion passed.
Paula suggested shop students might build racks in the fall.
Ardena Regier brought up a sign that Jack Nerud has and has been given permission by the Ardissono's to put it on their property.
Don Bentley encouraged everyone to write a letter to state Senators about the need for federal money for the road north of Oshkosh to Crescent Lake. County Commissioner Terry McCord reported that Commissioner's have turned down a county road being built, as the cost is too much to keep the road up. They have talked to Ben Nelson's office. No money will be available this year but perhaps next year.
Fireworks are in and will be sold on the highway. Julian and Ursula will be in charge of sales and are in need of volunteers to help.
Nathan will follow up with Trish Davison about the car show for the 4th.
Bonnie Eckles asked for volunteer to serve, set up, and clean up the barbeque.
Nathan Loyd, Todd Royston, and Glen Vincent are working on the float.
It was discussed whether August would be a social or a working meeting. Joanna Kepler motioned and Don Bentley seconded to have a working meeting. Don will try to schedule a representative from Target to be at the August meeting as they were unable to attend next month.
The regular meeting was adjourned and was immediately followed by an excellent program presented by Lynda Lynch, PHD. The program was "Creating positive change" and focused on the need for leaders, and changing people's behavior. Lynda discussed how to make changes in your business using a systematic approach. The program was very worthwhile. Lynda is presently living in California, but plans to relocate here and establish a consulting business. We appreciate her effort and look forward to her moving to this area.
Next Meeting: To Be Announced
Respectfully Submitted,
Kathleen Loyd, Temporary Secretary
